Georgia Totto O’Keeffe (November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986) was an American artist. She was best known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, New York skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. O’Keeffe has been recognized as the “Mother of American modernism”.

To learn about Ms. O’Keeffe please check out her Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_O%27Keeffe.

Also, please visit the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum’s webpage: https://www.okeeffemuseum.org/  The museum is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico and in addition to being a great source of information about Ms. O’Keeffe, they also offer tours of her Abiquiú home and studio, it also has an extensive list of suggestions to fully immerse yourself in O’Keeffe’s world by touring Ghost Ranch and road trips highlighting the scenery which inspired her. (And, yes, this trip in on my Bucket List)

Ms. O’Keeffe was married to Alfred Stieglitz from 1924 until his death in 1946:O'Keeffee-stieglitz

For an inside view into their relationship, I highly recommend reading their letters:

The book is HUGE (almost 1,000 pages) – stick with it – it was by far the most honest view of the couple (or ANY couple, for that matter) that I have come across.

There are several biographies and a historical fiction novel of Me. O’Keeffe available:

And, of course, there is the 2009 film “Georgia O’Keeffe” with Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons:
